As 2018 comes to a close and we’re bombarded with “best of” lists from every major publication (including this one) we’re reminded of the highs and lows we experienced on an individual level and as a society through the media. When looking back on a year it isn’t just about celebrity breakdowns, natural disasters and internet breaking moments. We also need to focus on what we can gain from these events so we can fix issues, continue highlighting the positives and grow as a whole in the new year. So here it is. Tekashi 6ix9ine had an incredible year when it comes to the commercial success of his music. Anything he dropped automatically charged on Billboard and it seemed like he was untouchable as he presented himself to be a gang affiliated leader in the rap game. His rise inevitably came crashing down when he got arrested on racketeering charges in November. The gangsta life the “FEFE” rapper was portraying on social media and his music was the cause of his demise and it’s still unclear how long 6ix9ine will be in prison.

Black Panther amassed over $1.3 billion dollars this year and while there isn’t an official release date for a sequel, fans will definitely keep the “Wakanda Forever” support going until the next chapter is revealed.

When she drops a record, everyone collectively takes a moment to appreciate the time and effort it takes to create huge moments like the Self-titled album, Lemonade and world tours. With no warning the “Formation” singer can release a project that will be talked about for months and influence other artists to utilize the visual art form of music videos and fully realized albums. Bey was slated to perform at Coachella in 2017 but due to being pregnant with twins had to push her show back a year to give fans the best show possible. On April 14, Beyoncé performed to over 100,000 attendees and a live-stream audience turning one of the biggest music festivals in the world to Beychella. Beychella became the most-tweeted about performance of weekend one, as well as the most-watched live Coachella performance and the most-watched live performance on YouTube of all time.


Bill Cosby

Damn! Bill Cosby Found Guilty of Drugging, Molesting Woman –

When your heroes show their faults it can be difficult to separate the person from their art. Bill Cosby has fans from all ages due to his groundbreaking sitcom The Cosby Show. Cosby has been the subject of sexual assault accusations since the peak of his career as a comedian and actor. This year the overwhelming amount of assault allegations were too loud to ignore and Cosby had to answer for the 60 accusers who span decades. In April 2018 he was found guilty of three counts of aggravated indecent assault. He currently faces three to ten years in prison.
